Panellists from AWS, BT, Mvine and Ulster University explore how zero-touch onboarding promises seamless device activation, stronger security, reduced provisioning costs and new revenue opportunities across industries.
Zero-touch onboarding moves from innovation to commercial deployment
In this panel at DTW Ignite 2026, Cliona O’Boyle, Head of Innovation Centres at BT, Frank Joshi, Managing Director at Mvine, Professor Nader Azarmi, Chief Intelligent Systems Technologist at Ulster University, and Professor Mo Zoualfaghari, Global Head of Emerging Technologies at AWS join TM Forum’s Andrew Thompson to discuss the commercialisation of zero-touch onboarding technology, which enables devices to be securely activated and managed with minimal manual intervention. Developed through collaboration between industry, academia and technology partners, the approach is designed to improve customer experience, strengthen security and reduce operational costs. Speakers highlighted its potential across consumer and enterprise markets, where automated provisioning, chip-to-cloud security and standardised onboarding can unlock new service opportunities. The technology is also expected to support AI-enabled services, accelerate technology transfer and create new revenue streams through partner ecosystems and digital marketplaces.
